Thuya wood comes from Tetraclinis articulata, a conifer that the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh describes as endemic to the western Mediterranean, with its main locations in North Africa. This box is made of thuya wood throughout, by hand, in Marrakesh, Morocco, by Abdelillah A., a woodwork and thuya artisan verified by Kilimy in September 2026. The wood is finished with oil, and the inside is left as bare wood. Grain and tone vary from box to box, so yours will differ slightly from the photos.

The maker describes the work this way: "These are not pieces you impulsively buy and never use, they live with you and age with you so we create them with those standards in mind."
