About this piece
The Artisan Story
In the medina workshops of Fès, master metalworkers shape brass into vessels of light. These three graduated tealight holders bear the careful marks of hand-engraving, their geometric patterns echoing the tilework of ancient madrasas. When flames flicker within, shadows dance across walls in intricate lacework.
Materials & Technique
Each lantern begins as sheet brass, carefully formed and joined by skilled hands. Artisans use traditional engraving tools to carve geometric patterns, a technique passed down through generations in Fès metalworking ateliers. The brass develops a natural patina over time, deepening its character with age and use.
- Hand-engraved brass with traditional geometric motifs
- Graduated sizing creates visual rhythm and depth when displayed together
- Fès metalworking tradition using time-honored engraving techniques
- Natural patina development adds warmth and character over time
Care Instructions
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth and dry immediately. Brass will naturally develop patina; to maintain original shine, polish occasionally with brass cleaner. Never submerge in water. Use only standard tealight candles and never leave burning candles unattended.
