A hand-pierced brass sconce shade for your own wall light

This Moroccan wall sconce shade is a curved panel of unlacquered brass, pierced by hand with an arabesque medallion and a field of small holes by Mehdi Ba. in Marrakesh. It measures 27 x 16 cm (10.6 x 6.3 in) and fits over a wall light you already have. It is a shade only: no socket, wiring or bulb.

Choose one, a pair or a set of four. Duties and taxes are included on US orders, and every order ships with a Kilimy Origin Passport naming the maker.

How it works on your wall

The shade does not light up on its own. It fixes to the wall through screw holes, over a light fitting that a qualified electrician supplies and installs to your local code. The glowing photos were taken with a temporary bulb behind the shade, to show how it looks once installed.

Your fitting: it must be narrower than 16 cm (6.3 in) to sit inside the shade.
Your bulb: a small clear bulb in warm white, about 2700K, gives the sharpest pattern.
Where: indoors, in a bathroom or on an outdoor wall, with a fitting rated for that location.

Care

Dust with a soft dry cloth only, with the light switched off and the bulb cool.
Do not polish it. Unlacquered brass darkens naturally over time, faster outdoors or in a humid bathroom.

Questions

Is this sconce wired, plug-in or unwired?

Unwired. You receive the brass shade only, with no socket, wiring, plug or bulb. It does not light up until it is fixed over a light fitting installed by a qualified electrician.

Why does it glow in the photos?

The photos were taken with a temporary bulb behind the shade, to show how it looks once installed over your own wall light. The bulb and fitting are not included.

Will it fit over my existing wall light?

The shade is 27 cm high and 16 cm wide (10.6 x 6.3 in) with an open back, so the fitting behind it must be narrower than 16 cm. It fixes to the wall through screw holes.

Can it go in a bathroom or outside?

Yes, the maker confirms the brass shade can be used in bathrooms and on outdoor walls. The light fitting behind it must be rated for that location. Unlacquered brass darkens faster in damp air.

Will the brass tarnish?

Yes, slowly. The brass is unlacquered, so it darkens to a warm, aged tone over time. Dust it with a soft dry cloth only, and do not polish it.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 14 days of delivery, as long as it has not been installed. Kilimy arranges the pickup at no cost to you. An installed shade cannot be returned.

Returns

You can return a shade that has not been installed within 14 days of delivery, and Kilimy arranges the pickup at no cost to you. A shade that has been installed cannot be returned. If it arrives damaged, email Kilimy support within 48 hours with photos.
