About this piece
Handcrafted from Ourika Mountain Clay
This handmade vase carries the essence of Morocco's Ourika Valley, where artisans have worked with the region's distinctive clay for generations. Shaped entirely by hand in Marrakech, each piece reflects the natural variations and rich mineral content of clay sourced from the Ourika mountains, creating a vase with authentic character and earthy warmth.
The artisan begins with raw clay from the valley, carefully kneading and forming it on a traditional potter's wheel or by hand-building techniques passed down through family workshops. After shaping, the vase is left to dry naturally under the Moroccan sun before being fired in a kiln, a process that transforms the mountain clay into a durable, functional piece of art. The organic texture and natural tones—ranging from terracotta to warm ochre—celebrate the material's origins.
Care Instructions
- Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust
- If using for fresh flowers, place a waterproof liner inside to protect the porous clay
- Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture without a liner
- Display away from direct sunlight to preserve the natural clay finish
