Mohamed Ourika crafts each salsabil in his Marrakech workshop, building the vessel with its lidded top, looped handle, generous body, and raised pedestal base. The orange tap at the bottom brings the piece into everyday use while the ceramic form above remains firmly rooted in Moroccan tradition.

The proportions are made for a table of guests rather than a single place setting. Fill it before a gathering and the vessel becomes part of the occasion functional, decorative, and unmistakably Moroccan. When not in use, its painted surface and architectural silhouette give it enough presence to stand as a statement piece on a console, sideboard, or dining table.

What Makes It

Built around Moroccan hospitality traditionally used to serve water to guests, the salsabil turns a practical act into part of the ritual of welcoming people into the home.
Fifty-two centimetres of presence the tall pedestal form gives the vessel a commanding place at the centre of a table, while its generous body provides ample capacity for serving a group.
Fassi-inspired blue and white decoration cobalt blue is painted across the white ceramic in a vocabulary of interlocking arches, geometric borders, botanical forms, and dotted fields associated with Morocco's prestigious ceramic tradition.
Painted by hand, not printed Mohamed applies the decorative patterns individually, so the lines, spacing, and small variations carry the evidence of the person behind the brush.
A functional vessel with a sculptural silhouette the pedestal base, rounded body, handled upper section, and lidded opening give it the character of an object that belongs equally in a dining setting or on display.

The Craft

Mohamed Ourika makes each vessel in his Marrakech workshop, drawing on the long Moroccan tradition of ceramic craftsmanship. The white ceramic body becomes the ground for a pattern language built from cobalt blue: arches, geometric bands, dotted fields, and botanical details arranged across the surface.

The decoration is applied by hand rather than reproduced mechanically. That matters here because the pattern is not simply an image placed onto a finished object; it follows the curves of the vessel and has to remain balanced as the surface changes direction. Small differences in line, spacing, and brush movement are part of what makes each piece individual.

The result is a vessel that brings together two sides of Moroccan craft: the highly decorative ceramic traditions associated with Fassi design and the practical culture of hospitality that gives the object its purpose. It is made to be used, but it is also made to be seen.

Hand-wash with warm water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive sponges or scourers that may wear the painted surface over time. Dry thoroughly before refilling or storing.
