About this piece
The First Thing Your Guest Touches
Amzil spent hours engraving this door knocker in his Marrakech workshop — the eight-pointed star at the center, the geometric lattice radiating outward, the crescent detail at the base, the minaret finial at the top. Every line was made by hand, with a chisel and hammer, by a craftsman who has worked brass his entire professional life. Nothing about it was pressed, stamped, or cast from a mold.
The form is drawn from one of Morocco's oldest decorative traditions — the hand of Fatima reimagined as architectural hardware. The eight-pointed star is not decoration for its own sake. It is a symbol that has marked the doors of Fès, Marrakech, and Meknes since the medieval period. Amzil places it at the center of every knocker he makes, surrounded by geometric latticework that catches light differently throughout the day.
What Makes It
- Hand-engraved solid brass body — every line carved by Amzil using traditional chisels
- Eight-pointed star motif at center, framed by radiating geometric lattice
- Crescent detail at base, minaret-inspired finial at top
- Made in Marrakech by a single artisan
Care Instructions
Brass develops a natural patina over time. To maintain the original finish, wipe with a soft cloth and occasional brass polish. For an aged look, let the patina develop naturally — it will deepen the engraved details.
