About this piece

A complete six-piece brass bathroom set, hand-engraved in Marrakesh, Morocco. It includes a towel bar of approximately 60 cm, a towel ring, a toilet paper holder, a soap dish, and two robe hooks, with all mounting hardware. The lacquered finish stays bright in a humid bathroom with no polishing.

What is in the box

  • Hand-engraved towel bar, approximately 60 cm (23.6 in)
  • Hand-engraved towel ring
  • Toilet paper holder with engraved cover
  • Wall-mounted soap dish with engraved backplate
  • Two hand-engraved robe hooks
  • Mounting hardware for all six pieces

Each piece is shaped by hand, so dimensions vary slightly between sets. The towel bar measures 58 to 62 cm (22.8 to 24.4 in). If you are fitting a fixed space, email us before ordering and we will measure your exact set and send you the numbers.

Six pieces, one pattern, one workshop

Every piece in this set is shaped and engraved by hand in a verified brass workshop in Marrakesh's old medina. Sheet brass is cut, hammered to form, then engraved strike by strike with a pattern carried through generations of Moroccan metalworkers. In Morocco a master of this craft is called a maalem. The word means the person who knows the work well enough to teach it.

Because the engraving is cut by hand rather than stamped, no two sets carry an identical pattern. Buying the pieces separately over time does not guarantee a match, since each run is cut by hand. A set bought together is cut together.

A design tradition from northern Morocco, made in the south

The geometric motifs on this set draw on Andalusian metalwork, a decorative tradition that entered Morocco through its northern cities and spread through the medina workshops of Marrakesh. The set is made in Marrakesh. The motif has a longer journey behind it.

Lacquered brass, built for a bathroom

The brass is sealed with a protective lacquer, which is the correct finish for a wet room. It stays bright and warm without tarnishing, spotting, or turning green in humidity, and it needs no polishing at any point.

This is the practical difference between a piece made for a bathroom and a decorative brass object placed in one. Raw brass in a humid room darkens unevenly within months, most visibly around a towel bar where hands touch it daily. Lacquered brass keeps the tone it arrived with.

Installation

All six pieces are wall mounted. Each fixes with two concealed screws through a backplate, and all mounting hardware is included.

  • Drywall: use the included anchors.
  • Tile: drill with a masonry or tile bit and use the included anchors. Do not overtighten against a glazed surface.

Care

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. For anything stubborn, use mild soap and dry immediately.

Do not use brass polish, metal cleaners, or any abrasive product on this set. Polish is designed to strip surface material and will damage the lacquer. Nothing more than soap and a cloth is ever needed.
