Thirteen and a half centimetres tall and 10.5 centimetres wide, this solid brass lion head brings the protective symbolism and sculptural character of Moroccan architecture into a smaller piece of hardware. Cast, shaped, and hand-engraved by metalworkers in Marrakesh, the lion combines a detailed mane, expressive face, and circular pull into one substantial brass form.

The lion has long appeared as a symbol of strength and protection across Moroccan decorative traditions. Here, that character is reduced to a piece made for the details of a home: a cabinet door, dresser drawer, small furniture piece, or other surface that deserves something more distinctive than standard hardware.

The brass is deliberately left with its natural character. Over time, handling and exposure to air allow the surface to develop a warmer patina, moving gradually from bright gold toward deeper amber tones. Every piece will age differently, making the hardware increasingly personal the longer it is used.

The Craft

The engraving does not repeat with mechanical precision: lines can vary slightly in depth, spacing, and direction, while the surface may carry small differences in tone and texture. These variations are not defects. They are the evidence that the piece passed through an artisan's hands.

The final result is deliberately substantial. Brass gives the lion both weight and warmth, while the sculpted profile allows it to work as a functional pull or knocker and as a decorative object in its own right.

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Avoid chemical polishes if you want the brass to develop its natural patina over time. If you prefer a brighter finish, occasionally buff with a brass-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials that can scratch the engraved surface.

Because this is a handmade brass piece, slight variations in tone, weight, engraving depth, and surface character are natural signatures of the craft. No two pieces will develop exactly the same patina.

Who pays customs and duties?

Duties and taxes are included on orders shipped to the United States, with nothing to pay on delivery. For all other destinations, import duties and taxes are not included and are collected on delivery.

Is it really handmade?

Yes. Every piece is made by hand and carries an Origin Passport recording its city and craft. The maker is named when they have agreed to it.

How are the makers paid?
