The Craft
Bennasser begins with raw Safi clay, kneading it by hand before centering it on his wheel. Each plate takes shape under his skilled touch, then dries slowly under Morocco's sun. After the first firing transforms clay to ceramic, he paints freehand motifs with brushes dipped in mineral oxides. A final high-temperature firing seals the colors beneath a food-safe glaze that will last generations.
