What Makes Each Lantern Unique

Because each lantern is individually handcrafted, slight variations in the brass engraving, surface texture, glass coloration, and overall finish should be expected. These are not manufacturing flaws; they are evidence of the artisan's hand and the traditional process behind the object.

No two handmade pieces will carry exactly the same combination of marks and tonal variations. Your lantern therefore becomes an individual object with its own visual character.

Care Instructions

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For the glass, use a clean microfiber cloth to gently remove fingerprints or surface dust. If a deeper clean is required, use a lightly damp cloth and dry the lantern immediately afterward.

Avoid abrasive sponges, steel wool, harsh chemical cleaners, and prolonged exposure to water. These can scratch the brass, damage the finish, or affect the appearance of the glass.

To maintain the brighter appearance of the brass, polish occasionally with a suitable brass polish. If you prefer the natural aged appearance, simply allow the brass to develop its patina over time.

Is it really handmade?

Yes. Every piece is made by hand and carries an Origin Passport recording its city and craft. The maker is named when they have agreed to it.

How are the makers paid?

Kilimy is an artisan-owned model. The maker keeps the majority of each sale; our share covers processing, handling, and shipping.
