Quick answer: Yes. This cotton blanket is fully machine washable at home. Most Moroccan blankets sold online are labeled dry clean only. This one is not.

1. Tie the pom poms loosely together in small bunches with soft string, or put the blanket inside a large mesh laundry bag or a buttoned duvet cover. This stops the pom poms from tangling in the drum.
2. Wash cold on a gentle or delicate cycle with a mild detergent. No bleach, no fabric softener.
3. Hang dry, or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting.

Is this terracotta orange, or brown?

Quick answer: Orange-leaning. This is a warm clay and rust terracotta, closer to burnt orange than to chocolate or brownish-brick. We are telling you this up front because "terracotta" means different things on different screens, and color surprise is the number one reason people return a blanket.

What does handwoven cotton actually feel like?

Quick answer: Thick, substantial, and dry to the touch rather than fleece-soft. This is loom-woven cotton with real weight to it, the kind of blanket that stays where you put it instead of sliding off the sofa.

Straight out of the packaging it has a slight natural crispness, which is normal for handspun cotton and is exactly what tells you it was not made by a machine. It relaxes fast. After the first wash it softens noticeably, and it keeps getting better from there. If you want plush and fuzzy, buy fleece. If you want a textile that ages into something your family keeps, buy this.

Will it look exactly like the photos?

Quick answer: Close, and never identical. The terracotta is dyed in small batches, so tone varies slightly between blankets. Weave density shifts a little across the length because a person controlled the loom, not a machine. Pom poms sit at slightly different angles. Those variations are the proof of handmade, and they are the reason no two Kilimy blankets are the same. If a Moroccan blanket looks machine-perfect, it was made by a machine.

What will not vary: the size, the fiber, and the fact that it was woven by the person named on your passport card. If the color reads wrong in your room, send it back within 14 days. We would rather take a return than have you keep something that does not work.

• 79 x 118 in / 2 x 3 m (Large): king beds, layered bedding, and generously sized lounges. Full drape on both sides with pom poms clearing the floor.
• 78 x 98 in / 2 x 2.5 m (Medium Large): queen beds with real coverage rather than a decorative strip. The most popular size for American bedrooms.
• 79 x 79 in / 2 x 2 m (Square): sofas and sectionals, or a statement throw that spreads wide across two people.
• 98 x 59 in / 2.5 x 1.5 m (Horizontal): benches, daybeds, and folded across the foot of a bed as a long accent.
• 59 x 79 in / 1.5 x 2 m (Vertical): armchairs, reading nooks, and wrapping around one person on the couch.
• 39 x 79 in / 1 x 2 m (Runner): entryway benches, narrow spaces, and the end of a bed where you want color without weight.

Not sure between two sizes? On beds, go up. A blanket that stops short of the mattress edge reads as an afterthought, while an oversized one reads as a bedspread. On sofas, go square.
