About this piece

Light Through Geometry

Set a tealight inside and the room changes. Every triangle Amzil cut by hand into this brass bowl becomes a point of warm light — geometric patterns spreading outward across the table, the wall, the ceiling. The form is simple: a low, open bowl with a pierced body sitting on a weighted base. The effect is not simple at all.

Amzil works from a workshop in the medina of Marrakech, where he has spent years mastering the art of hand-pierced metalwork. The latticework pattern on this candle holder is the same geometric language found on the doors, ceilings, and screens of Marrakech's historic buildings — reduced to a piece that sits in your hand and transforms the light around it.

What Makes It

  • Hand-pierced brass body — every geometric opening cut individually by hand, which is why the light that passes through it fractures into patterns rather than a single glow
  • Open bowl form — the wide-mouth design allows the candle to breathe fully, giving the flame stability and the light maximum reach
  • Weighted base — ensures the holder sits stable on any surface, even as the candle burns down
  • Available in warm gold or polished silver finish — both reveal the same intricate piercing, each with its own quality of reflected light

Care Instructions

Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove wax residue. For polished silver finish, use a brass polish occasionally to maintain shine. Avoid water and abrasive cleaners. Store in a dry place when not in use.
